The March 5, 2009 Naples Sunset Rotary meeting speaker was introduced by club President Marcus P. Zillman. OB Osceola, Jr., President of Pro Investment Group International and CEO of Pro Games, L.L.C.; has devoted his life to projects and business ventures designed to enhance the lives and improve the futures of members of the Seminole Tribe in the state of Florida and beyond. After earning his AA degree in Business from Edison Community College in 1989, Osceola moved on to his biggest project to date in 1990 as he signed a management agreement with the Seminole Tribe of Florida for the construction of the Immokalee Casino. After raising the initial two million dollars for the construction of the facility, Osceola built the facility into the premier casino in the Naples / Fort Myers markets, with over 1,000 gaming devices, a poker room, and a restaurant. Osceola’s knowledge, work ethic, and professionalism earned him kudos from anyone who did business with him, but no honor was bigger than when he was appointed Liaison to the Naples Community in 2001 by Seminole Tribe of Florida Chairman MitchellCypress on the Tribal Council and Corporate Board. In his duties as liaison, Osceola provides an array of services to the community, including, but not limited to: Education, Health, Senior and Family Services, Housing, Culture, Recreation, Human Resources, and Communications. His seven years of service have also been marked by such Tribal milestones as the design, construction, and opening of the Hard Rock Tampa and Hollywood Hotel Casinos; the purchase of Hard Rock International, the first time a native tribe has ever acquired a global brand; the 50th anniversary of the tribal constitution; and the amazing growth of tribal gaming revenue from $300 million to over $1 billion.

A lengthy question and answer period followed his presentation and all Naples Sunset Rotary members appreciated his outstanding job in delivering an excellent program!

The February 19, 2009 meeting of Naples Sunset Rotary featured a presentation by our President Elect Rev. Michael Harper and Miss Fire. February 12, 2009 Meeting Jonathan Saunders

Our speaker for the February 12, 2009 meeting was Jonathan Saunders. His father is Burt Saunders, former Florida Senator and now practicing law in Naples. Jonathan spoke on his experiences at the Florida state geography bee and the general state of our public school system. Jonathan is an eighth grader at Gulfview Middle School and we all enjoyed his presentation especially his ability to give map instructions from any point a to any point b. No need to have Google Maps when Jonathan is Google Maps on steroids!!

February 5, 2009 Meeting Dr. Mitchell L. Petusevsky

The February 5, 2009 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting featured Dr. Mitchell L. Petusevsky, M.D., Executive Director of The Center for Sleep and Pulmonary Medicine in Naples, Florida. His presentation including slides covering the many facets associated with sleeping disorders and methods for diagnosis and understanding some new protocols for treatment and rehabilitation.

November 20, 2008 Meeting Dr. John Diaz

Naples Sunset Rotary Member Rev. Michael Harper introduces our speaker Dr. John Diaz, Director of Cardiovascular Risk Reduction Center, 2450 Goodlette Rd., North, Suite 202, Naples, FL and part of Anchor Health Centers, Naples, Florida.

Dr. Diaz discussed the risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease and spoke in detail on his specialty and how it relates to our daily living and environment. His wife Julie Diaz also spoke on additional resources available to the public about managing risks in our daily happenings.

November 13, 2008 Meeting Steve Lochirco of Happy Apples

The Naples Sunset Rotary Board of Directors meeting held at 5am prior to our November 13th meeting discussing the upcoming events of Farm/City Trolly Trip on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, The December 6th Rotary Meal Creation Event, the December 18th Christmas Party, and our annual Fund Raiser and Charter Night on March 26, 2009.Other business was dicussed and meeting adjourned at 6:10pm.

Our last minute fill in and truly appreciated speaker was Steve Lochirco, Founder of Happy Apples in Washington, Missouri and part time resident of Naples, Fl and long time Rotarian. Steve discussed his boating activities and events that significantly affected is life as well as discussed his candy apple business that he started in 1964 and is now producing over 400 carmel apples per minute with distribution all over the country. It was a timely and very positive and excellent talk showing what true entrepreneurship and passion can do and what a great country we live in!!!

The Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting of October 30, 2008 Ladies Night has two members giving their history and current profiles.

Carl Theome discussed his Naples history and the many photographic opportunities he has both participated in and observed during his tenure. He discussed both his original negatives to his latest digital happenings.

Roberto Licci discussed his history back to Italy and his passion of painting which directed him to his profession of hair stylist to the Naples Neapolitans. He also discussed his latest paintings and his future both as a hair stylist and painter.

August 28th Meeting - Voices for Kids Speaker

This weeks speaker was Connie Sudbrook, Volunteer Services Coordinator, Collier County, Voices for Kids of Southest Florida. Voices for Kids is part of Guardian ad Litem and we were informed of the many positive activities that the volunteers performed for the kids they serve. They are advocates for kids through the court systems.....an extra set of eyes and ears for the child during the court process. She stated that volunteers were needed now as well as donations to help the service continue. Questions and answers after her well received speech.

August 21st and August 23rd Meetings

Our meeting for August 21st featured Dr. John Christ local podiatrist who displayed a number of operations and procedures that he has performed on patients feet during the last several years.

The Rotary District 6960 Conference was held in Punta Gorda on August 23rd from 7:30am until 4:00pm. Our club was represented by five members which represented 25% of our club in attendance. The area of concentration was in the Rotary Foundation and Membership. The trip was well received and the vehicular transportation was truly smooth .....

Teamster Union Officials Presentation July 24, 2008 Meeting

The July 24, 2008 Naples Sunset Rotary Club meeting featured officials from the local Teamsters Union. The program was enjoyed by all our attending members with a lengthy question and answer session after the presentation.

Our speaker will be Victoria B. Moreland, Public Relations Director, Lee County Port Authority discussing Regional Southwest Florida airport activities and future.

District Governor Cypher Visits Club

President Zillman of the Naples Sunset Rotary Club officially meets and introduces the District 6960 Governor Cypher of Rotary to our club on Thursday night the 17th of July. Governor Cypher spoke on the goals and objectives of Rotary International and District 6960 for the 2008 - 2009 club year.

Next weeks meeting July 24th will be introduced by member Dan Page and will be featuring a local representative of the Teamsters Union that will be discussing the janitorial services proposal of the Collier County School system.

July 31st meeting will be the installation of the 2008-2009 club officers and board by our District Governor Elect Vincent Cautero and program introduced by President Zillman and will be featuring Victoria Moreland, Department Director of Public Relations for the Lee County Port Authority discussing the Regional Southwest Airport.
